home get involved contact us 01622 851200 citizens right for older people meet the team at welcome to crop, citizens rights for older people our aim and objective is to leave an older person stronger and more able to cope than when we first came into contact with them. our website is simple but designed to assist you in finding the information you are looking for. it covers all the areas that we work and provide assistance in. we are a people-based organisation, so if you don’t feel happy filling in information online, we will always be happy to hear from you at our office in lenham. you can find information on how to contact us here. how can crop help you? we live in a world where everything resides online and not every older person is familiar with modern technology so can often benefit from some help and guidance to sort out their problems. crop (citizens’ rights for older people) is a charity setup to do just that but not just with technology, with any problem that may require a second opinion or some intervention from an experienced volunteer to help out. we are not a campaigning organisation, but a confidential advocacy service. we use trained volunteers who visit older people in their own homes to express their individual needs, either for themselves or through a visiting advocate. not all of us are able to be effective advocates on our own behalf even before we are old. so can we help you? • as an older person do you need help to make a complaint? • are you unsure about making a fuss about poor service? • have you suffered injustice at the hands of central or local government? • can you negotiate satisfactory care services for yourself? • do you need help filling in benefit forms? • is your landlord keeping to his tenancy agreement? melanie turner deputy manager i started my journey with crop as, a volunteer and helped in the office for one year. i am now a paid member of staff and my roles are, as a deputy manager and area coordinator for west kent. i am passionate about our organisation and, really enjoy supporting older people and, feel that my previous adult nursing career has given me a good grounding for understanding the issues and needs of older people. when i am not working, i enjoy long walks with my husband and our two labradoodles!
